Konser Musik Instrumental Gitar Siap Hadir

- Sebuah pertunjukkan gitar yang akan disuguhkan oleh beberapa musisi terkenal siap digelar di Indonesia.

Bertempat di Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta, dengan spesial performance Ian Antono akan berkolaborasi dengan musisi Rock muda Ega Liong yang didukung oleh beberapa musisi seperti Toto Tewel, Pay, Eet Sjahranie akan siap menampilkan permainan gitar terbaiknya.

"Sebuah event Rock yang apik antara beberapa generasi siap
berkolaborasi total melalui instrumental gitar," ujar Ian Antono kepada VIVAnews, di Hard Rock Cafe, Jakarta Pusat, Jumat, 30 April 2010.

Perhelatan yang baru pertama kali digelar ini, akan memberikan warna tersendiri bagi industri musik Indonesia.

"Acara ini kita dedikasikan untuk gitaris-gitaris di Tanah Air. Mulai dari yang senior dan junior serta mereka yang berjuang di industri musik kita," tutur Ega sang gitaris 'Black Out'.

Acara 'Konser Instrumental Gitar' yang akan digelar pada hari Minggu 9 Mei 2010 ini bertujuan untuk lebih memperkenalkan musik instrumental gitar kepada para pencinta musik Rock.

"Perkembangannya sudah cukup bagus tapi untuk instrumental gitar memang tidak banyak yang tahu. Diharapkan dengan konser ini bisa diperkenalkan," ujar Ian Antono.

Konser berkonsep musik Rock tersebut juga akan memberikan kesempatan kepada para gitaris untuk menciptakan karya originalitas mereka serta memberikan inovasi dan ide instrumental baru.

Once Kangen Nyanyi Bareng Dewa 19

Asyik bersolo karir tak membuat Once melupakan Dewa 19.

- Akhir-akhir ini, Once, vokalis Dewa 19 lebih sering tampil bersolo karir. Once mengaku menikmatinya. Tetapi, ia sangat merindukan nyanyi bareng Dewa 19.

"Rasa kangen memang ada dong," kata Once saat ditemui di La Piazza, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara, belum lama ini.

Once mengaku Dewa 19 saat ini memang sedang santai sehingga dia bisa tampil menyanyi sendiri. Menurut ayah satu anak ini, manajemen Dewa 19 tak melarang dirinya untuk bersolo karir sehingga dia bisa mengekpresikan karya-karyanya walau tanpa Dewa 19.

Pria berdarah Manado ini menambahkan bernyanyi solo dengan menyanyi bersama Dewa 19 memiliki sensasi yang berbeda. Begitu juga dengan jenis lagu. Pada saat menyanyi sendiri, Once tak terlalu pusing dengan warna musik yang dinyanyikannya.

"Musik akhir-akhir ini sangat pribadi karena dalam solo saya menyanyi untuk jenis musik yang saya sukai, jadi saya tidak berpengaruh dengan lagu yang saya bawakan hits atau tidak. Yang penting enak buat saya," ucapnya.

Sama seperti penyanyi lainnya, Once juga memiliki keinginan terpendam yakni menggelar konser tunggal. Tetapi, dia tak akan mewujudkan cita-citanya itu dalam waktu dekat ini.

"Kepingen pasti, tapi album aja belum punya," ujarnya menutup pembicaraan.

Penggebuk Drum Avenged Sevenfold Meninggal Muda

CALIFORNIA,  — Kabar duka menghampiri grup band Avenged Sevenfold setelah penggebuk drumnya, James Owen Sullivan a.k.a "The Rev", meninggal dunia di usia 28 tahun pada Senin (28/12/2009) waktu setempat.
Joh\n Domingo, petugas kepolisian Huntington Beach mengatakan, The Rev meninggal di kediamannya di kawasan California selatan.
Sejauh ini, polisi belum menemukan hal-hal yang tak wajar atas penyebab kematiannya. Meski demikian, pihak terkait masih meneliti penyebab kematian The Rev secara pasti.
Kepergiannya yang tiba-tiba jelas membuat sejumlah rekan dan penggemar terkejut. Pihak manajemen grup band Avenged Sevenfold mengumumkan kabar tersebut melalui situs mereka. "Ini kabar yang sangat menyedihkan dan berat untuk disampaikan bahwa hari ini Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan telah tiada," tulis manajemen Avenged Sevenfold dalam pernyataan resminya.
"Jimmy tak hanya merupakan salah satu penggebuk drum terbaik di dunia. Lebih dari itu, dia adalah sahabat dan saudara terbaik," tulisnya lagi.
Semasa kariernya bersama Avenged Sevenfold, "The Rev" pernah memberi kontribusi dalam penggarapan single "A Little Piece of Heaven." Selain menjadi pemain drum, ia juga penyanyi latar di grup bentukan tahun 1999 itu. Bahkan, pria yang dikenal badung selama remaja itu sempat menjadi penyanyi utama pada grup musik Pinkly Smooth.
Lahir pada tanggal 9 Februari 1981 sebagai anak tunggal, dia terkenal sebagai bocah nakal sehingga sering dikeluarkan dari sekolah. Kelakuannya saat remaja makin tak terkendali. The Rev sudah tujuh kali masuk penjara karena doyan berkelahi dan doyan mabuk-mabukan.
Namanya kemudian makin dikenal ketika ia bergabung dengan Avenged Sevenfold dan berhasil menuai sukses. Pada ajang MTV Video Music Awards 2006, grup ini berhasil meraih penghargaan untuk Best New Artist.
Di Tanah Air, grup ini punya banyak penggemar. Buktinya, sudah dua kali mereka manggung di Jakarta. Pada Oktober tahun lalu, Avenged Sevenfold tampil di Jakarta. The Rev turut serta dalam konser yang dihajat promotor Java Musikindo itu.

Profil Dream Theater

Biografi : Dream Theater yang awalnya bernama Majesty ini dibentuk di New York tahun 1985. Berawal dari kolaborasi John Myung (bas), John Petrucci (gitar) dan Mike Portnoy (drum) yang belajar di sekolah musik Berklee College of Music, mereka kemudian merekrut Kevin Moore (keyboard) dan Chriss Collins (vokal). Grup ini kemudian berganti nama menjadi Dream Theater lantaran ada grup lain yang juga bernama Majesty dan menuntut agar mereka berganti nama.

Album pertama mereka, WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE dirilis dirilis oleh Mechanic Records tahun 1989. Album ini gagal menembus pasaran dan mengakibatkan tour promo Dream Theater juga dibatasi hanya di sekitar New York saja. Terjadi perubahan formasi setelah album pertama ini. Album kedua mereka IMAGES AND WORDS dirilis dengan James LaBrie yang mengisi vokal.

Tahun 1999, Jordan Rudess masuk mengisi posisi keyboardist dan tahun yang sama Dream Theater melepas album METROPOLIS PT. 2: SCENES FROM A MEMORY.

Album-album Dream Theater termasuk jarang yang laku keras. Hanya album IMAGES AND WORDS yang tercatat meraih gold album. Namun berbeda dengan live album mereka yang ternyata lebih sukses de pasar. 4 live album mereka malah mencetak platinum album buat Dream Theater.

Dream Theater tercatat merilis 10 studio album, 5 live album, dan 1 album kompilasi selama berkarir lebih dari 20 tahun. Dengan fomasi terakhir James LaBrie (vocal), John Myung (bass), John Petrucci (guitar), Mike Portnoy (drums), dan Jordan Rudess (keyboard) terakhir mereka melepas album SYSTEMATIC CHAOS 2007 kemarin.
